How Distributed Leadership Fosters Individual Leadership Emergence: The Mediating Role of Empowerment Role Identity and Enacted Leader Identity

Departing from past research on managers’ influence employees’ informal leadership emergence, we explore the mechanism of how distributed enhances individual emergence a cognitive perspective. Drawing upon identity construction theory and role theory, theoretically developed empirically tested serial mediation model. It examines promotes via empowerment enacted leader identity. Using three-wave field survey 496 subordinate–supervisor dyads (82 supervisors employees) in China, found that serially mediate association between emergence. The results demonstrate process under leadership. theoretical practical implications our findings are then discussed.
